This series started as a tribute to my mother soon after she passed away. Since that time it has grown to include paintings which integrate found photographs that I’ve picked up in my travels, as well as commissions for private parties.
The artwork, My Mother: Eltress Frederica Huber was recently added to the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Encaustic Art in Santa Fe, NM. It will also be featured in the exhibition, 50 States, which opens at the Museum in June.
You can commission your own Remember When photo/encaustic painting to honor a friend, relative, pet, place, or an event. Using a scan of a meaningful image, I weave together a color scheme and pattern based upon your stories which express how you see that person. I consider fashion, colors, and styles of the era and create a decorative border in encaustic, leaving the center for the picture.
A commission for Remember When is guided by your memories and my research into the life and times of that era. We start by scanning your photograph in high resolution which keeps your precious photograph intact! Then we talk over coffee, tea, or wine in my studio or garden. I ask you to bring mementos along to help me get a more complete idea of who this person was and how they have impacted your life.
Commission are priced starting at $550.00 for 8"x10" on up. Please contact me for more information.
