Hand of Fate: Ancestors
Born out of my ruminations on the power of change in one's life. Ancestors came about through my recovery from an arsonist who dramatically changed the trajectory of my life.
My plan for retirement was to work quietly in my peaceful back yard studio. After the fire as I was sifting through the remains I came upon a box of letters from my grandmother when I was in my 30's. This box was charred but the letters were still intact. She had been a minister's wife, a painter, and a naturalist and she taught me so much about nature and spirituality. I was stunned to read her take on the state of our country and humanity in the 1980's. From my observation things haven't change that much. She's speaking to me still.

This piece is first in the series, The Hand of Fate which is currently capturing my imagination.
