Portfolio > Mediterranean Meditation

The monotypes in this exhibition were inspired by a trip to the Mediterranean Region to exhibit my art at the Izmir Biennial in Turkey. I traveled on to teach a printmaking workshop in Greece, and finally, a visit to the Venice Biennial.

I moved through these diverse cultures, along deserted highways, city streets, ancient ruins, and pristine landscapes soaking in the patterns, colors, and the effect of light in both the built environment and the natural world.
A recent direction away from visible reality liberated me. Untethered from the “realist” tradition this series of monotypes is my meditation and a celebration of the patterns, vegetation, and symbols I recorded during my trip.
